26.23a Andrew more righteous than Charles

What an opportunity to move from Britain’s proud naval heritage in my last article “Indefatigable” to contrast it with todays disturbing demise of Christ centered leadership from the de-facto defender of England’s Protestant Church, that is if words of mortal men are to have any real meaning and we are to believe the Oath of a Sovereign King during his Coronation.

We might turn a convenient and cultural blind eye to the many people who express vows in Marriage that are meant to be sacred before the living God, though we should not, particularly our own vows before God in claiming the responsibilities of Marriage and family, but we should also not be so careless as people ascend to power with promises before God and are singularly expected to have a decided influence upon a nation and its Church.

The act of taking office and pledging upon the Bible and even kissing it is some cases, we should not be ignorant of the meaning or intention of such actions intended to be before the Living God in effort to strive not to lose touch with all its based intention.

One of the first principles of faith is “The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” – Proverbs 9:10. Knowledge of the Holy One is not derived from social psychology, it comes from the study of Holy Scripture with a surrendered posture to the Lord Jesus Christ.

I live in California where we have developed a model in which corruption reigns because ‘words have no meaning’ (lip service) is taken to a tyrannical levels under the cover a highjacked liberalism, and many elected officials accept little accountability to the citizens of this state. So, throwing a few critical thoughts at a figurehead of a King is my liberty, to express a few views in support of beleaguered citizens of a once great empire caught within a modern system that is confounded with corrupted representation with an out of control guilt complex.

The following is the Coronation Oath of King Charles according the website, www.countrylife.co.uk.

Are you willing to take the Oath?

The King replies

I am willing.

The King places his hand on the Bible, and the Archbishop administers the Oath

Will you solemnly promise and swear to govern the Peoples of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, your other Realms and the Territories to any of them belonging or pertaining, according to their respective laws and customs?

The King replies

I solemnly promise so to do.

The Archbishop says

Will you to your power cause Law and Justice, in Mercy, to be executed in all your judgements?

The King replies

I will.

The King kneels at the Chair of Estate. The Archbishop says

Will you to the utmost of your power maintain the Laws of God and the true profession of the Gospel? Will you to the utmost of your power maintain in the United Kingdom the Protestant Reformed Religion established by law? Will you maintain and preserve inviolably the settlement of the Church of England, and the doctrine, worship, discipline, and government thereof, as by law established in England?

And will you preserve unto the Bishops and Clergy of England, and to the Churches there committed to their charge, all such rights and privileges as by law do or shall appertain to them or any of them?

The King replies

All this I promise to do.

The King places his hand on the Bible and says

The things which I have here before promised, I will perform and keep. So help me God.

The King kisses the Bible. The Archbishop says

Your Majesty, are you willing to make, subscribe, and declare to the statutory Accession Declaration Oath?

The King replies

I am willing.

I Charles do solemnly and sincerely in the presence of God profess, testify, and declare that I am a faithful Protestant, and that I will, according to the true intent of the enactments which secure the Protestant succession to the Throne, uphold and maintain the said enactments to the best of my powers according to law.

The King signs copies of the Oaths, presented by the Lord Chamberlain, whilst the choir sings

Prevent us, O Lord, in all our doings with thy most gracious favour, and further us with thy continual help; that in all our works begun, continued, and ended in thee, we may glorify thy holy name, and finally by thy mercy obtain everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

William Byrd (c 1540–1623) The Book of Common Prayer 1549

The King kneels before the Altar and says

God of compassion and mercy whose Son was sent not to be served but to serve, give grace that I may find in thy service perfect freedom and in that freedom knowledge of thy truth. Grant that I may be a blessing to all thy children, of every faith and belief, that together we may discover the ways of gentleness and be led into the paths of peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Commentary

It is not my perspective and understanding of the God’s divine instruction that the last phrase,of every faith and belief that together we may discover the ways of gentleness and be led into the paths of peace was expected to be a very liberal interpretation, to mandate that the King to make his nation a doormat, but rather a supplication that God through His mercy bring all people’s to the Saving Grace by the Lord Jesus Christ.

If you understand the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ, they go in large measure to emphasize the exclusivity of God’s Law and exclusivity of God’s Grace as the means of Salvation for a sinful and depraved humanity, and especially the truth that the means of God’s Grace is via the work of the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

In order to really understand the wisdom of these otherwise non-sensible ideas (non-sensible from an unsaved person), one has to receive some divine insight to the great depravity ones own sinfulness (of which we are all) and the Holiness of God. One may come before another but the reality of both are often the trigger that clears enough blindness away so that the sinner can perceive the Truth of Jesus Christ and the Truth of judgment of a God who loves and is just.

There is no other way, no other faith based in Truth as the one explained in Scripture. While Christians and those in a Christian-based culture are called to love our neighbors, Christians are not meant to be a whipping post for any religion or people that chooses not only to blaspheme the Lordship of Christ, but make unprotected targets for those whose belligerent, degenerate, or downright evil behavior highlights the persecution of Christians and other so-called infidels.

During the Babylonian captivity, when the evil Prime Minister Haman got King Ahasuerus, unwittingly to write a decree to eliminate all Jewish people in the land, God didn’t expect the Jews to just sit back and be murdered and their properties confiscated. God raised Queen Esther and her relative Mordecai to work through the governing system, not only to eliminate the Jew-hating/anti-Christ Haman but to empower the Jewish people to stand up and fight to defend themselves. God ordained, through a gentile King’s authority, for the Jews to defend themselves and destroy those who dared attack them.

What I see happening in England now is the result of the emasculation (or self-emasculation) of the sovereign power of the King whose duty is to uphold the law of God and the Gospel which is to staunchly and unwaveringly uphold a culture and people who uphold Christ as Lord and Savior, to uphold the law without discrimination to poor or rich and not to allow the destruction of what has throughout most of Western Civilization, been a country united through Christ of which the King is supposed to be the Sovereign with a divine call to lead his people.

In other words, I believe those who have abided by the predominately influenced Christian culture, even to its liberal extent (that it may very well reconsider for existential purposes), should not be expected to attempt to co-exist or die on the altar of every faith and belief if they are incompatible with the peaceful exercise of both English culture and what is expected to be a society that strives to hold Christ as the spiritual head of the Church. If a foreign cultural influence that proves itself inflexible and incompatible with the teachings of the Gospel, the King of England, as head of the Church need to abide to a Biblical interpretation of the teachings of Christ and exercise his leadership of the Protestant Church and not resort to mere lip service professing obedience to Christ, to stand idly by in the face of an objectively existential threat.

If the King does not abide by the rule of Christ and staunchly stand up for the Church (which is the people) he is responsible to protect, then the people must fight back against that which is insidiously leading to what will be in effect, using a foreign and idolatrous culture as a form of God’s judgment or wake up call, not unlike the judgment of the jewish people in the times of the Assyrians and Babylonians. If there is any hope, it is to unite under Christianity which calls upon a repentant people and the blessings from Almighty God.

Time will tell what God’s plans are in the foreseeable future (before the End Times). The rise and fall of all nations are under the Providence of Almighty God. Yet while there is time, Christians are called to draw others to Christ. Is this a wake up call or judgment in England? I cannot say, but a leader of a country must not stand with a blind eye like an emasculated weakling when the literal rape of the citizenry is the tragic result of an obscene form of guilt in all its insidious and institutionalized forms.

Generations of soldiers and sailors died to preserve the freedom of the Britains whereas a particularly dangerous, in effect traitorous, political class would as soon sell out the country for the need of some common sense or the altar of self-destruction.

Selflessness in the service of others is not intended to be self-destroying.

The reason I title this post with a provocation, is despite the criminal sex offending acts of the humiliated Prince Andrew, King Charles has the greater sin of not standing by the Oath with which he as King and the protector of the protestant Church of England, and by extension all Christians and people in England. Whereas Prince Andrew’s sin has tragically hurt some people, Andrew is not proclaiming to be protector of the Protestant Church. However, King Charles’ silence and manipulation of his sovereign responsibilities affects an entire nation suffering the devastating effect of derailed leadership.
