23.01 Where have I been since ’62?

Author’s note: If you are new to my blog and are interested in reading the 23.xx series, please first read the 23.01 through 23.09 in order to best get the idea of what I am attempting to communicate. They are built like chapters in a book, one building on the previous one. Consider the points made in each article to help you understand where I am coming from in hopes I can make a connection with you on your spiritual journey.

Remember the line from the best cruising movie ever, American Graffiti? It was “‘Where were you in ’62”? I get to transform it since I was born in 1962.

TRANSITIONS

If you’ve been following my blog, ChallenYee.com, you will notice that I haven’t posted much since my mom passed away in October 2017.

On this and my other websites, except for posts related to the events related to the inactivation and decommissioning of the USS Bremerton (SSN-698) and the fund raising for the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum at Pearl Harbor, I’ve scarcely posted anything personal in nature.

The body of blog work on this original mynamesake.com site up to this point, aside from the two subjects mentioned, has been a broad search for meaning centered around personal development, work and travel experiences, philosophy, home business, and more. Taken all together, a variety of interesting subjects, but without focus, without a clear goal.

A whole lot of life ups and downs have happened from 2017 through 2022, more than I want or care to publish, unless it in someway provides a practical anecdote to support an argument. I will be sure to keep things anonymous.

Looking back at my blogging history and I find it noteworthy that I started in 2013 and I find it sobering to know that my first series of articles was about Mark Lightburn. He was a car enthusiast, baseball player, accountant, mathematician, a graduate of Palo Alto HIgh School, and a San Francisco Giants fan. He was a source of encouragement and my friend.

I was privileged in that he confided in me some things about difficulties in his life and yet, there was much about him I didn’t know.

Quite frankly, how well do you really know anyone, even those those you think are close to you? Life offers you a few chances to get to know and to be known. Value those opportunities.

A year older than me, I knew Mark from high school and, as a young adult, through the church we attended.

He committed suicide. Now decades ago.

I remember my friend as I remember him then when I started this blog. A reminder to us that we have a life to live and our purpose to find.

As survivors, we should live well and know death and the afterlife are somethings you and I ought to prepare for.

My new focus has has taken nearly 60 years of living on earth for me to get clarity on. For some, what I will write will resonate and I hope will be additional light for you.
