23.29 Can you be saved in the final moment?

Author’s note: I’m writing this article for all who are non-believers in Christ. Family, friend or stranger, you may be on the fence, adopted any other religion or philosophy, or you may be opposed to Christianity for whatever reasons.

If you are new to my blog and are interested in reading the 23.xx series, please first read the 23.01 through 23.09. Consider how I misunderstood God’s grace and the Church in the past. Now, I am impassioned by Jesus Christ’s teaching of the “narrow gate” (Matthew 7:13-14) and, in love, my posts are focused on driving your attention to that critical truth.

Can you be Saved in the final moments of your life?

The short answer is “Yes”

What may be encouraging is, you could have a fox-hole conversion experience as long as you had a few minutes to gather your thoughts and understand with a sense of honest surrender that, currently, you are too self-assured in your self-righteousness to admit.

There is a ‘fox-hole conversion’ during Jesus’ crucifixion.

While Christ was hanging on the cross, there were criminals suffering the same execution to each side of HIm. It was clear to everyone around that Jesus was a well known figure and the inscription above Him, written in three of the most common languages said

“THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS”

All those around Him were in varied states of belief or unbelief, just as all of you who may read this article.

39 Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”

40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said [b]to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”

43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

(Luke 23:39-43)

Jesus confirmed the one man’s request, right there as they were both suffering the agony of being crucified.

There was no time for this man to give share the Gospel, make an offering in the temple, become a missionary to the poor, seek forgiveness from everyone he wronged, or payback all that he may have stole from others. A man suffering on the cross has no such opportunity, He could see clearly as death approached him what he was unable to come to grips with in all his life until the end.

This one man had faith in Jesus’ Lordship and the kingdom to come, securing his eternal destiny based on the promises of God… while the other man mocked the Savior, forfeiting his glorious inheritance for a final paltry moment of worldly satisfaction, part of the wide path that leads to eternal damnation.

Jesus knew this repentant man’s contrite heart, his surrender, and sorrowful regret of having done wrong against a holy and just God. The man sought the peace that can only come from the true and living God, the King of kings, Lord of lords, and our Savior who redeemed all those who will come to saving faith.

Will you accept everlasting life in Paradise with the Lord?

Because God is full of grace, truthful, kind and merciful, He extended this invitation to you turn away from your life of sin and wholly accept His promise of eternal life in Paradise, through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ?

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:16).

If you are still procrastinating in receiving God’s grace of salvation through the Lordship of His Son Jesus Christ, and if you are not of the belief that you even need a Savior, keep an eye out for future articles or read some old ones.

It could be you will not accept before your life ends. It’s is not my intent to let you go so easily as long as there is a chance, no matter how small, that you will genuinely respond to God’s calling.

Seek the Narrow Gate. Wide is the path to destruction
