A couple of articles ago, I wrote about the Advocate, one of the functions of the Holy Spirit, the aspect of God that resides within each genuine believer in Christ.

One of the things the Advocate does is help us understand the truth in Scripture. The Advocate reveals truths to us.
The acceptance of the Bible as the truth becomes a matter of faith, but it is a faith that is supported with evidence and a growing trust and confidence. A believer in Christ will understand that the source of the material written in the Bible can be nothing other than the supernatural inspired WORD OF GOD and that awareness compels a believer to continue studying the Bible which is in effect the instructions from the Lord and Master.
Certainly there is no better source of what Christ taught His disciples than the Gospels. Importantly, Jesus taught and confirmed the validity of the Old Testament and explained 17 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. 18 For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. – Matthew 5:17-18.
The Holy Spirit helps disciples remember God’s teachings. In the absence of the physical Jesus, he sent the “helper” the Holy Spirit. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. – John 4:26
With the enlightenment that arrives through Scripture and through prayer and discussion with other believers (and sometime even non-believers), The Bible become the GO-TO source for the ultimate guidance counseling.
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be equipped, having been thoroughly equipped for every good work. – 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Since truth and wisdom are key life to solving problems, teachings from the Bible unlock lifelong anxieties, questions and concerns. Consequently, the Bible becomes far more than academic knowledge, it becomes a divine tool that God works to bring you peace which is ultimately the result of the effect of God’s purposes, the offer a peace that begins now, continues through death and into eternity in God’s presence.
I think most of us would herald the receiving of some great advice from an earthly or worldly advisor, mentor or leader. So much more should we glorify God for the amazing wisdom and guidance that he seeks to share with us via our faithful trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Jesus Himself taught that, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me. 7 If you have come to know Me, you will know My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.” – John 14:5-7.
Jesus Himself places you in the position where you must choose, you must decide. He is not ambiguous and for good reasons. He proclaimed clearly that He is one with the Father and therefore is God. It is not a blind faith, though we may be blinded by our own prejudices. Faith in Christ is not blind, among the evidences, there is much support based on fulfilled prophecy and the evidence of eye witness history that has been provided us through Scripture.
Don’t simply rely on what you’ve heard from other people, even if they are a minister at church. Go straight to the source material and read for yourself with the intention of seeking the truth, of becoming open to what God has in store for you, and to be inspired by His Word!
