HMS ROSE now HMS SURPRISE

HMS ROSE now HMS SURPRISE

A wooden ship, originally designed as training vessel and a modern recreation of the 18th Century British frigate HMS Rose, she was sold to a movie studio for the movie "Master and Commander" starring Russell Crowe. The ship now is a tourist attraction in San Diego. I spent two glorious weeks training on her in 1996 during her first European tour (image source: Milena Stevens "HMS" Rose Group).
