The Folly of Neglect

This is a little different from my typical post, it is more of an exhortation than a personal development message. Whoever you are and whatever you do, this one’s for you.

I wrote an initial draft of this essay on Facebook yesterday and although I had a specific circumstance in mind, the generic nature of my message would be useful in reaching some of you who need a well intended kick in the rear if you’ve been unwise to heed the obvious warning signs of the perilous path you are proceeding on. Perhaps you’ve ignored the risks for so long you no longer consider them risks. Beware of the Law of Probability.

There are many reasons why a person ignores the obvious and thinks he or she may be impervious to harm or catastrophe. You will have to ask yourself where you are falling short and what would you do if you had the courage and wisdom to do the right thing.

THE FOLLY OF NEGLECT

Desperation is the final and inevitable result of months or years of accumulated neglect (Jim Rohn). Are you ignoring something you know damned well needs to be fixed or addressed?

The problem with waiting until the fire starts is you do not know how much of your life, and the lives of others, will be burned because you refused to plan ahead or refused to act to avoid ill-advised risk.

The amount lost in a very short period of time can be devastating.
You will become victim of the plan of the Destroyer, that force in life that feeds on voids in your integrity. It can be just as destructive as a hurricane or an earthquake and just as impersonal.

So I ask you, what have you been ignoring or neglecting? And are you putting others at risk with your hubris, indecisiveness, or unwillingness to take full responsibility?
